Dr Mowlem is also excited to facilitate access to state of the art specialised equipment, previously only available in medical facilities outside of the Moreton Bay Region. New lung function testing equipment and diagnostic sleep testing units will provide patients with a local option for health care and specialised management.

Dr Lydia Mowlem graduated from the University of Auckland in 2000, receiving the award for the most Distinguished Medical Graduate of the Year.  She commenced training as a General Physician at Middlemore Hospital, one of the largest tertiary hospitals in New Zealand.  Lydia additionally spent several years working in the area of Acute Medicine, caring for sick medical patients presenting to Emergency departments. She then undertook Respiratory training at Auckland City Hospital, managing diverse conditions including lung cancer, tuberculosis, respiratory infections, respiratory failure and airways disease.

Consultant Physician in Internal Medicine, Respiratory and Sleep Medicine

She developed proficiency in bronchoscopy with bronchoalveolar lavage and transbronchial biopsy, pleural procedures and thoracic ultrasound. She travelled to Australia to undertake a Sleep Medicine Fellowship at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in 2013.  During this fellowship she learnt about the interpretation of polysomnography (sleep studies), the management of sleep disorders and non-invasive ventilation. She has presented research at several international conferences.  She now consults from Peninsula Private Hospital.

Our practice is located at Suite 23 in the Peninsula Specialist Centre based at Kippa-Ring, allowing convenient access for residents of the Moreton Bay Region. Along with ample free parking at the specialist centre, the suite has recently been constructed providing modern and professional décor.
